All about our blog!

Hey Created Colorful Fam!

Did you know that our blog has been around for almost 3 years now?!

I remember putting together our first ever Target Tuesday post and linking about 10 items per palette. That’s how we started! It’s been amazing seeing how far we’ve come since then, and we absolutely LOVE hearing from our clients about how helpful this resource is!

It’s been a minute since we’ve shared some behind-the-scenes of our blog and why we do what we do! And since we just entered a new year, I thought it would be a great time to put together this post as well as answer some questions that I’ve received throughout the years so that they’re easy to find and all in one place! So let’s get started!

Why does this blog exist?
After receiving my color results, I went shopping and found items in my color palette. I came across a lot of other items as well and got so excited anytime I stumbled upon a good find. I remember thinking to myself, “Oh! This is a color match! I wish I could share this with other people!” I started posting some of my shopping adventures on Instagram stories and received A TON of messages asking for finds in other color palettes. I received so many requests for links! After talking to Lindsey about it, we decided to start a blog and attach it to our website. We wanted it to be a helpful resource to our clients and a place where they can easily find clothing pieces in their best colors.  Our first post went live back in Summer of 2021, and we have created new content for the blog on a bi-monthly basis ever since then!

How do you determine which brands to feature?
Whenever we receive brand requests from our clients, we add the brand to this running spreadsheet that we have. If the same brand is requested multiple times (like Target), we will feature it more frequently. Most brands partner with LTK, which is the platform we use to link our items because their widgets integrate well with our website. But, LTK does not partner with all brands. We try our best to feature as many requested brands throughout the year so that there is something for everyone.

How do you determine which topics to cover?
Just like how we receive brand requests, we also get topic requests as well! When someone submits a request to us, we jot it down in our spreadsheet. We also get inspiration from what we come across on different social media platforms. We try our best to tackle as many topics as we can within a year!

Do you get commission from our purchases?
Yes, we receive a small commission for your purchases if you buy from the links we post on our blog. Buying from our links doesn’t cost you anything, but it helps us out by paying for the time that we spend looking and categorizing items for each palette! Because of your support, we’ve been able to keep this blog going for the past few years and continue providing our content for free! Many other color analysis businesses charge a fee for clothing links, but we’re happy to be able to provide content on a regular basis free of charge.

Do you feature sustainable brands?
Yes, we link from sustainable brands often! You can find sustainable options in all of our capsule posts, and we sometimes feature specific brands in their own blog post.

How come some palettes have more options than others in certain blog posts?
Many clothing brands stick with certain colorways so depending on the brand(s) that we feature in our blogs, some palettes might have more options than others. For example, J.Crew often has bolder and brighter colors, whereas Madewell carries more softer and muted shades. Larger retailers, like Target for example, carry a wider range of colors for their clothes than smaller retailers do. It just depends on the brand!

Seasonality and fashion trends also play a role in what colors are available for us to link. We try our best to find spring links in winter, autumn links in summer, et. But there are natural trends that might make it more difficult to find for certain palettes during certain times of the year.

If I’m not a Created Colorful client, can I still use your blog and make purchases from it?
Absolutely! Anyone is welcomed to use our blog as a resource, whether you’ve gotten a consult done elsewhere or had it done decades ago! We’re glad you’re here.

I just received my colors and I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. Where should I start?
Before making any purchases, we encourage you to look through your closet first! You might have some items that are already in your color palette. We also suggest to start slow and small! You can ease into wearing more color by adding accessories or a basic top. From there, you can work your way up and add more colorful pieces to your wardrobe as you identify the holes in your closet.

Don’t forget that we offer color coaching as well! If you’re struggling with how to integrate your color palette into your existing wardrobe or if you feel like you need additional help with understanding your palette, we have color consultants who are happy to assist you!

I love all the links you share but I don’t know what I need. Help!
We have heard from many of our clients that after receiving their results, they felt encouraged to do a closet audit. If cleaning out your closet feels overwhelming to you, you don’t have to combat the task alone! We have our “Love Your Closet Audio Course” available for you, and Lindsey walks you through all the steps in the most supportive way. You can take your time and do it at your pace. It’s better to identify what the missing elements of your wardrobe are first before you add something new to your closet!

We’re so grateful to hear that the blog has been helpful for you throughout all these years, and we’re excited to continue creating content for you! Thanks for being here!

Love,

Kim, Octavia, & the gems at Created Colorful
