1 Piece, 3 Stylish Looks for your Color Season

We all have that one voice in our heads while shopping…

It’s either reasoning with our impulsive nature, or nudging us to go ahead and buy the thing.

For me (Lindsey, the founder of the color analysis company, Created Colorful) the voice in my head that’s shaped me the most is my stylist friend, Paul (@urbsuburbstyle on instagram).

If you’ve ever hear me talk about only buying jeans that I can eat a burrito in, that’s Paul in my head! 😂

For the past 12 years Paul’s been helping clients create intentional & mindful wardrobes that make them feel great , no matter your lifestyle, body type, or budget.

And today, he's going to style 1 piece 3 ways for each color season!

Lavishly sprinkled throughout are a dozen timeless style tips that will get stuck in your head forever. You’re welcome.

✨1 Piece, 3 Stylish Looks ✨

Spring Edit- Statement Skirt

Who doesn't love a bold bottom?

This bold linen maxi skirt from Boden caught Paul's eye — let's see how he'd  style it for your spring palette👇

Outfit #1 :

STYLE TIP✨ When everyone else is wearing a floral print dress, buck the trend with separates. Separates give you more wardrobe options & they’re ideal if you’re a different size on the top & bottom.

Outfit #2 :

STYLE TIP✨ If you have no idea what shoe to pair with your summer outfit, go for a metallic sandal or flat. Metallics are simply shiny neutrals, so they go with everything!

Outfit #3

STYLE TIP✨ You may be thinking, “a denim jacket in the summer?” But it’s a layer that works over most any outfit – so toss one in the back seat of your car in case of frigid air conditioning.

Summer Edit- Textured Sweater Top

Who said sweater vests can't be stylish?

This blue sweater vest from LOFT caught Paul's eye — let's see how he'd  style it for your summer palette👇

Outfit #1 :

STYLE TIP✨ Open weave sweater tops (like this one) may need a layer underneath. And yes, you can go for a matching or neutral tank – but you can also try a pop color (like pink or green) for something a little more interesting.

Outfit #2 :

STYLE TIP✨ I love a vest like this because it’s fine on its own right now. Then you wear it over a white t come September & over a striped button-down shirt come October.

Outfit #3 :

STYLE TIP✨ When it’s summer & you’re wearing less pieces, what you are wearing needs to work a little harder to keep your outfit interesting. Add texture (with a sweater vest), print (with floral flats) & color (with a cute bag).

Autumn Edit- Lightweight Cardigan

The easiest way to level up your outfit?

Layers and texture. This light weight pointelle cardigan from Boden caught Paul's eye — let's see how he'd  style it for your autumn palette👇

Outfit #1 :

STYLE TIP✨ When you’re looking for a summer-weight cardigan, focus on fabric & texture. Light cottons, linens or silks are best – and open weave textures literally let the air pass through.

Outfit #2 :

STYLE TIP✨ I’ve said it before (and I’ll say it again) – metallic sandals are a go-with-anything option for summer. If you have a few summer weddings (or other dressy events), you can wear them with almost any dressy dress.

Outfit #3 :

STYLE TIP✨ Scarves are having a moment, but they’re always useful in my opinion. It’s a great hit of print no matter how you use it – in your hair, around your neck or tied to your bag.

Winter Edit- Printed Sandals

The right shoe can totally make an outfit!

These fun printed block heel sandals from Nordstrom Rack caught Paul's eye — let's see how he'd  style it for your winter palette👇

Outfit #1 :

STYLE TIP✨ Accessories are a great way to add dimension to your outfits, especially in the summer. Use them for print, color & texture – they add style points to even a simple neutral dress.

Outfit #2 :

STYLE TIP✨ Use prints as your ‘permission’ to pair different colors. These sandals are basically a rainbow, so you can pull multiple colors out of them. And remember, the colors don’t need to be a perfect match - they just need to go.

Outfit #3 :

STYLE TIP✨ Versatility is key in a modern, functional wardrobe. So, rather than buying something that only functions as a coverup, choose something you can wear when you’re not at the pool – like this lace skirt (that you can throw on with a tank & flat sandals for a casual dinner).

Lindsey's Take...

I fell in love with this Rujuta Sheth maxi skirt(code: COLORFUL15), and I figured I should do my own spin on 1 Item, 3 Looks

I used the outfit notes Paul made for Springs to create  3 brand new outfits using what I already had in my closet!
